Shakira has said that she would take a break after the Oral Fixation tour was finished. But her commitment with the creation of a better world has already delayed her vacations: a new altruistic cause brought Shakira back to the stage.

Shakira played in Nigeria, participating on the ThisDay Music Festival. The Festival not only boost the Nigerian music scene, but also has a positive impact in other areas, such as tourism and economy. ThisDay also has helped to create a positive image for the country.

Nigeria is the last country in which Shakira has performed, after a whole year of international success. Now she’s headed to her well deserved vacations, but I won’t be surprised if she comes back for more charity work. Shakira has already announced a new campaign to raise $200 million (£100 million) for the fight against juvenile malnutrition and hunger in Latin America.

Erich Schmitt, president of SEAT, gave yesterday a 123,000 euros check to Dr. Sara Gamba Fuentes, of the Colombian embassy in Spain and representative of Shakira’s Foundation - “Fundación Pies Descalzos”. The check is part of the financial support offered by Seat to the Foundation. Seat also helped the Foundation by being the sponsorship of Shakira’s European Tour, earlier this year.

According to Erich Schmitt, “SEAT is a company with a great social commitment and I’m enormously proud of delivering this check, which will serve as aid to palliate the situation of Colombian children”.

“The money will be used to build a new school in Barranquilla, the native city of Shakira in Colombia”, said Dr. Fuentes. “The school will provide education to 2,000 children and will remarkably improve the situation of the families in Barranquilla”.

The fundraising campaign included the option to donate 1 euro, by sending an SMS, which automatically entered the drawing of a singular SEAT Leon Pies Descalzos, customized by Shakira. The amount of received SMS from all the participant countries in Europe reached the impressive number of 89.227, and Shakira is very happy because of the fans response to the initiative.

In an act celebrated yesterday in SEAT’s stand in the Barcelona Motor Show, the Commercial vice-president of SEAT, Berthold Krüger, delivered the keys of the SEAT Leon Pies Descalzos to Lucia Morán, the winner.

Lucia, from Madrid, said: “I never thought that my SMS would be the winner of the car, when I sent it. As a Shakira fan, I just wanted to contribute to her cause”.

Lucia Morán sent the winning SMS from her father’s cell Phone. When asked if her father didn’t demand the prize, this was her answer: “No way, he already owns a SEAT Leon. But since he is a very lucky man, he said that his luck helped me to win the car. And since I don’t have a car, it’s really cool”.

Shakira, one of the most recognized and successful young artists, has chosen Spanish brand SEAT as the main sponsor of the 2007 “Oral Fixation” European Tour. The tour began on January 05 and finalized on April 08. SEAT continues collaborating with the Shakira’s Foundation “Pies Descalzos”, in benefit of the children who live in extreme conditions in Colombia.
